The Ladies would be nothing without you fans having your say. Over the years, so many of you have written in to the BBC demanding another series, which accounts for the Ladies longevity, and for which we cannot thank you enough.

I just wanted to stop by and say a massive thank you to all involved with LoL, Ive been a fan of the radio series for a few years now, and I recently got hold of all the CD's and listened to them all back to back, I love them so much it has me in fits of laughter every single episode, its some of the best comedy writing I have ever heard. The drama element is also wonderful too and at times can bring you to tears then before you know it another catty comment is out and then you are crying with laughter, its pure gold.
Recently I managed to catch up on the first series of the TV version on DVD and it did not disappoint at all, absolutely perfect casting and definately on par with the wonderful Prunella & Patricia. Anne & Maureen were fantastic!
Can't wait for series 2 on tv and series 11 on the radio :)
I wanted to say the big thank you because (I dont normally say this in a public place but hey I want you to know how much this wonderful show helps me) I suffer with really bad depression, had it since I was 14 (I'm 26 now), anyways LoL has helped me through so many rough times and has cheered me up so much when I thought nothing else could, so a massive thank you to everyone involved with all incarnations of LoL, thank you for making me smile when I need it the most :)
Much love & huggles

I just wanted to say thank you. I have fibromyalgia and the severe muscle pain and migraines of this condition mean I spend a lot of time in bed just trying to get through the day/night. LOL (CD version) have helped me through many long nights of pain when I am unable to sleep. I am able to relax within minutes of listening and the distraction of the exploits of Vera and Irene do for me what no amount of pain killers can - lift my spirits and raise a smile no matter how many times I revisit the stories. Lou, Carole, Prunella and Patricia, I am forever grateful to you!

Maureen Lipman is Irene and Anne Reid is Vera . In fact I look forward to the ITV episodes each week. I just love it.

We are an American couple who very much enjoys watching "Ladies of Letters". We are occasionally stumped by a few of the British terms used. For example, when Irene is imprisoned, ehe continues to write her letters to Vera on what looks to be like public restroom paper towels. We thought we heard Irene refer to this makeshift stationery as "Bronco" but can find no other reference to this online.
Would someone please enlighten us?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there
I have just started watching Ladies of Letters on Sunday nights, and love the programme. I think the charachters are really brought to life on the big screen by Anne Reid and Maureen Lipman.
Kind Regards
Brett Hopper.

I am delighted that this Series is being repeated and has been recommissioned. There is little to watch on any channel with much warmth let alone the sparkling and sometimes quite savage wit of L.O.L. It is also topical and socially relevant and I also admire the way the writing takes note, without patronage of our multicultural society. Gilly

I live in Germany and due to the 1 hour time difference it was shown on UK TV a little after my bedtime. When will it come out on DVD? I thought it was fantastic iIt raises your spirits and its just what TV needs. Good old clean(ish) humour with 2 of the most talented actresses who are naturally funny. Please ITV show it at 8pm !!!
